I do agree with you that the monopole we are talking about
( in the solid state ) is quite a different animal from the
monopole generally referred to by the particle physicists,
that which occurs in the vacuum.

I am not saying they are related - but only that others who have studied the
field think they are related.
Lochak is a name that comes to mind.

I do think that there is NOT a single variety of monopole and that there
could be range, possibly including so-called Hawking Radiation. Nicely done
