[NewCandle] Persona no-gooda arrives

Yeah, ran silent for a couple years and I just couldn't take it anymore... I
pushed it all out to curb and left it for garbage man. I am really not sure
why I let it get to me so much... ah well. What's done is done.

The main page on my site is just a dead end storefront to keep the bots at
bay. I know I can write rule files that are supposed to stop them from
crawling down all your links, harvesting email addresses, and caching
everything that isn't nailed down, but that's only if they are programmed to
respect the rule file. Cynical? prudent? call it what you like. I send
deep links to select people only when appropriate now.

The last 5 years have been brutal on many fronts. My focus has been on
putting food on the table for my family so unfortunately my basement is a
wash with dozens of half started / half completed projects on indefinite
hold until time / money permits (probably typical for most here). Most of
my research is still focusing on simple combinations of systems /
technologies that can get the average Joe off the grid into more of a less
dependent, more distributed power model.... low rpm dynamos, sterling
oscillators, heat exchange systems, northern latitude solar collection,
practical electrolysis, etc. Stuff you can get / make inexpensively and
hide in your basement without attracting too much attention from the
neighbors, the utilities, or the authorities. I am a ME, so my general goal
is not to kill myself with my own ignorance when I start playing in the EE &
Chem sandboxes... ha ha.

It's been a long while since I've had anyone to drill through theoretical
discussions. To be honest I am a bit gun shy now. I have notebooks and
notebooks of stuff, but I don't really see NewCandle for that sort of thing.
I am probably deluding myself with the actual worth of any of it. That
said, I will do my best not to clog your pipeline with it unless it's called
for. It's reassuring to see others actually getting some experimenting done
though. I can live vicariously through them until I get my own activities
back on track.

If anyone on this list needs / wants design engineering work done, feel free
to ask... SolidWorks, ProE. NDA's are no problem. If it's fun and
interesting, I don't mind doing it pro bono. Happy to help move the ball
forward anyway I can, even if it's someone else's. My specialty is plastics
and high volume disposable medical devices, but I have a solid background in
most materials and manufacturing processes.

Thanks again for extending the invite. I will not abuse the privilege. I
hope to be a valuable / valued contributor.

-john
