Keen observation JW! and of course the mundane will
almost always win out ... this one was almost too
bizarre but that is why it is so appealing in some
weird way; that and K's story -- not to mention the
allure of a precious metal...
... but you never know till you turn over enough
stones... and we have to applaud Nick for not slacking
away from controversy. Anyway, if there is still any
remote chance of a bona fide anomaly here, it might
help to calibrate the setup with a sample where Al is
plated with Ag in a thin enough layer that guarantees
seeing both in approx equal peaks. Heck you could
probably just rub a silver spoon over the Al a few
times, no?
