Great facility!
Where did all that iron come from in the "after" foil EDS? Did you
use distilled water?
If you are going to use up some D2O you might want to think about
saving a bit for a boric acid conditioning of aluminum electrodes
using HV AC. For the reason why, see page 6 of:

If you drive up the surface carbon after running a fairly long while
then I think it would be quite a discovery. For this kind of
experiment I think it is important to stay out of electrospark regime
and thus avoid the pinholes/erosion and stay in the glow regime.
